Festive Afternoon Tea: Sunset by Australasia

There’s no other way to complete your Christmas check-list, than treating yourself to a Festive Afternoon Tea…

You may have read my food review on Australasia’s pan-Asian cuisine from their recent corporate event; well I’m now delighted to share with you Living Ventures’ haven in the heart of Spinningfields just on the floor above – Sunset by Australasia.

After my lowdown on Sunset’s cocktail selection from their recent cocktail-making class, it’s time to share my culinary critique on their full Festive Afternoon Tea.

Having opened last Summer, Sunset’s stylish hideout is an ideal sipping spot with its canopied, heated terrace and luxurious Pacific-style surroundings. Renowned for being one of THE MOST INSTAGRAMABLE SPOTS in Manchester, this place is also heaven from a PR point of view for enticing all the bloggers out there…

The Terrace:

Sunset’s terrace area is positioned just at the back of Australasia and simply exudes a stylish, feminine ambiance with it’s central chic white and pink interior bar, and outside floral seating area.

Serving deliciously light and exotic flavours matched with indulgently blended cocktails to take you away to a gorgeously sunny place.

As we’re unlikely to have a White Christmas, it was lovely to enjoy blue skies alongside a festive feel in Sunset’s outdoor heated terrace with it’s sparkly decor and well lit surroundings.

We were soon greeted by our friendly waiter Aaron and briefed on a selection of savoury favourites and delectable desserts and pastries served in Sunset’s Signature Bento Box.

Being a food review and all, I felt it essential to go for the option with the most amount of courses, the SUNSET PORNSTAR MARTINI.

Sunset’s Bento Box consisted of the restaurant’s classic Frozen Pornstar Martini, followed by their Savoury Afternoon Tea Bento Box and completed with the final Sweet Afternoon Bento Box.

Tempting new additions on Sunset’s menu include ‘shabu shabu’ broth style dishes served in hot black granite bowls, delicious Japanese ‘kakigori’ desserts and exotic afternoon teas and bento boxes such as below.

With all four Festive Afternoon Teas ranging from £22.50 pp up to £29.50 pp, you really get your money’s worth with the value and volume of food that goes into this mini festive feast.

  • Frozen Pornstar Martini: Passoa, Belsazar Rose, pineapple, lemon, vanilla.
  • Savoury Afternoon Tea Bento Box: Edamame beans with truffle and smoked sea salt Salmon, togarashi, cream cheese & cucumber kimchi California roll Roasted red pepper & Japanese mayonnaise nigiri Yakiniku spiced chicken, Japanese broth.
  • Sweet Afternoon Bento Box: Golden miso chocolate pot with honeycomb crumb Pomegranate & hibiscus panna cotta with almond & chilli tuile Pistachio & cherry parfait. Oh, and of course the classic clotted cream & jam scones…

I always find Afternoon Tea/sharing type platters are always the most sociable form of dining out, and the perfect afternoon to experience with my guest and best friend to discuss all things Wedding for my big day next September (but that’s for another story)…

Get yourself over to Sunset by Australasia, as what better excuse is there for eating out other than the Christmas Festive Season?!

Happy Holidays all!
